ACMS - Airborne Communications Management System
The ACMS is a flexible control and display system for the management of aircraft communications and radio navigation equipment, integrating audio and control facilities.
The system is modular and flexible, can be stand-alone or integrated with other avionics systems, and is configurable to meet
any user’s operational requirements. Customisation is done through equipment and application software selection.
SYSTEM FEATURES
- Digital audio
- Powerful digital communications bus structure
- Programmable human-machine interfaces to meet specific user requirements
- Reduced operator workload (integrated audio, intercom, control and display)
- Night vision goggle (NVG) compatible and direct sunlight readable anti-glare flat displays
- Modular, flexible and expandable hardware and software architecture
- Capable of integrating radio navigation, audio and communication equipment (analogue and/or digital)
- Multiple redundancy and back-up features
- Looms to avionics bay replaced by 2 x twisted pair cables
- Built-in system test
DIGITAL BUS
- The Digital Bus is an ITU-T G703/G704 based serial bus for distribution of audio, control or status information.
- Primary plus secondary Bus system.
- Watchdog-initiated override feature.
- Manual override facility.
CMU
- The Communications Management Unit (CMU) contains a number of modules that provide the following functions
- Equipment control and status monitoring.
- Audio management
- Interface (analogue audio/digital/discretes)
- GPS (Passive frequency hopping synchronisation and aircraft backup GPS)
- Warning tones and synthetic speech generation
- Gateway (eg MIL-STD 1553B, ARINC 429, etc)
- Duplication of modules for redundancy purposes is configurable according to customer requirements.
- Customers specified communication and radio navigation products may be fully integrated with the audio or communications control system as required.
- Full provision for integration with Mil-Std-1553B based avionics systems.
GCP
- The General Control Panel (GCP) provides integrated control, display and audio functions.
- The GCP is a compact, NVG compatible unit providing full audio and intercom control together with the control of radio navigation and communications functions. A graphics display is used.
- The GCP is fully software configurable to meet customer HMI operational requirements.
- Can operate in conjunction with Multi Function Displays.
- Gateway for MIL-STD-1553 and ARINC 429 based equipment.
FILLGUN
System application software and mission specific data can be downloaded into the system prior to a mission with a fillgun (optional feature). Extraction of mission data and information after a mission is also possible.
REDUNDANCY AND BACK-UP CAPABILITY
- Highly redundant Digital Bus with graceful degradation modes.
- Duplication of equipment is possible to customer requirements.
- GCP’s an control equipment directly using bypass links
- CMU is a dual redundant device
- Emergency intercom is available
- No central processor.
INTERCHANGEABILITY
Softkeys are provided for audio level adjustment and control on the GCP. Through a loom wired addressing scheme the GCP as well as the CMU, are interchangeable irrespective of the system configuration or aircraft. This reduces equipment variety in customer requirements and inventories.
