| DESCRIPTION |
A New approach to extremely reliable adaptive HF communications for secure digital voice and data transmission under harsh combat conditions. The TR2400 forms the basis of a new generation of long haul HF communications products designed to meet the requirements of the modern digital battlefield. Based on the latest Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology, the TR2400 is inherently more reliable than discrete component architectures and provides flexibility in configuration and future growth. Addressing the fundamental requirements of being, lightweight, small and having a long mission life, a cost effective solution is provided using 3V3 technology and multiple processors. Mil-Std 188-141A ALE with a quick set-up option simplifies operator task, while the intelligent squelch function assists in preventing operator fatigue. Enhanced intelligibility is obtained by applying speech compression-expansion and noise blanking technologies in the software domain. Error free, high speed data transfer in a network environment is ensured by using the Stanag 5066 data link protocol. Secure digital voice is provided, even in the frequency hopping mode, by software based Vocoder options (either 2400 or 800 bps). Various levels of BITE ensure easy and fast repair capability
| FREQUENCY HOPPING (ECCM) |
High rate frequency hopping is provided, both for point-to-point or network operation. Intelligent use of un-occupied channels and improved AGC operation ensure sustained communications in dense transmission environments.
| AUTOMATIC LINK ESTABLISHMENT (ALE) |
The embedded ALE function conforms to the interoperability requirements of MIL-STD 188-141A, and includes a quick ALE option, which is up to 60% faster than MIL-STD-188-141A.
| DIGITAL SQUELCH |
The loudspeaker is only activated when an embedded intelligent squelch algorithm detects the presence of a valid signal, thus eliminating background noise and operator fatigue, characteristic conventional HF circuits.
| SELECTIVE CALLING |
A proprietary selective calling function provides for Point-to-Point, Group and All Call addressing.
| SPEECH ENCHANCEMENT |
By applying speech compression and expansion techniques the signal-to-noise ratio of voice channels is greatly improved, providing near telephone quality communications. Impulse type noise, e.g. power lines and ignition systems, is very effectively suppressed by an embedded noise blanker.
| DIGITAL VOICE |
A choice of either a 2400 bps LPC 10e or 800 bps vocoders provides digital speech as an embedded function. The 800 bps vocoders is specifically used in the frequency-hopping mode, and ensures communications under poor channel conditions.
| SHORT MESSAGE SERVICE |
The Front Panel is used to compose, recall, display and send short messages.
| DATA TRANSMISSION |
Three embedded high rate, serial tone moderns are provided.
Forward Error Correction (FEC), interleaving and adaptive data rate techniques, combined with data stack protocols based on Stanag 5066, ensure error free data transfer between external message handling devices, requiring only low skilled operators.
| COMMUNICATION SECURITY (COMSEC) |
Voice security is provided by means of either, embedded two-dimensional voice encryption or a hardware digital encryption module. These also provide data transmission security. Crypto keys are generated and loaded from a Network Management System (NMS).
| MAINTENANCE |
Various levels of Built-in-Test (BIT) are provided. Power-up BIT confirms the operational readiness of the radio on switch; continuous BIT monitors the radio during operation. Initiated BIT reacts on operator request while maintenance BIT stores fault occurrences.
| CONFIGURATIONS |
The radio is available in standard, enhanced or enhanced secure configuration. The radio can be used as a 25W manpack, or as a 100W vehicle/base station configuration.
