Antennas for Defence Applications
Included in the Grintek Antennas product range are high performance and high reliability spiral, horn, log periodic dipole, blade, stub, telemetry and micro strip antennas, as well as integrated antenna systems.

Log Periodic Dipole Antennas
The Grintek Antennas' range of wideband LPDAs includes:
  • 20 to 1000 MHz ultra compact design using inductive loading.
  • 80 to 600 MHz, 1.5 kW CW ruggedised for helicopter use.
  • 80 to 1300 MHz quick assembly in carry bag.
  • 0.7 to 3 GHz and 1 to 18 GHz etched PCB LPDAs suitable for dish feeds.
These LPDAs are light weight, compact in design and their quick assembly methods make them ideal for mobile applications.

Horn Antennas
Horn antennas are offered in the 0.5 to 100 GHz frequency range for both receiving and high power applications, including:
  • 9:1 bandwidth dual rigged horns.
  • S-band and C-band telemetry horns.
  • 0.8 to 2 GHz, 2 to 4 GHz and 4 to 10 GHz high power (600 W CW) ridged horns.
  • High power, broadband slant 45° and meander line polarisers.
  • 3:1 bandwidth circularly polarised horns with symmetrical or asymmetrical beam shapes using dielectric lenses.
Spiral Antennas
The spiral antenna product range covers the 150 MHz to 40 GHz frequency range. Typical products include:
  • 0.5 to 6 GHz, 2 to 18 GHz, 6 to 18 GHz and 18 to 40 GHz spirals which offer excellent axial ratio and squint performance - making them suitable for amplitude comparison direction finding (DF) systems.
  • Precision spiral antennas presenting outstanding amplitude and phase tracking performance for interferometric DF systems in 0.5 to 2 GHz, 2 to 6 GHz, 6 to 18 GHz and 2 to 18 GHz sub bands.

Blade Antennas
The blade antennas are suitable for use on various types of aircraft by being  compact, light-weight and using industry standard footprints. All products have been qualified for use on high performance and commercial jet aircraft and include:
  • 20 to 500 MHz phase track sets of blade antennas for airborne VHF interferometric DF.
  • 100 to 500 MHz communications blades.
  • 225 to 500 MHz high power blades.
  • 500 to 2000 MHz blades.
  • L-band blades for airborne TACAN and IFF applications.

Button Atennas
The broadband monopole antenna features 6 - 18 GHz performance in a low profile, radome enclosed package. The radome has the shape of a button and is protected by an antistatic, rain erosion coating. The antenna is qualified for use on high performance aircraft.

Omnidirectional Antennas
An extensive range of biconical omnidirectional antennas with vertical, slant 45° or circular polarisation options in the 0.7 to 40 GHz range is  offered. All antennas are radome enclosed and suitable for airborne or naval applications.

Some broadband applications employ beam broadening techniques in elevation to maintain acceptable beamwidths at the high end of the frequency range, while Slant 45° models are compact and are supplied in 0.7 to 2

GHz, 1 to 8 GHz, 2 to 18 GHz and 18 to 40 GHz bands. Antennas can be integrated on top of each other to achieve ultra broadband stacks, eg: 0.7 to 2 GHz and 2 to

18 GHz in a single compact unit. The biconical product line is augmented by radome enclosed stub and monopole antennas suitable for airborne use covering 2 to 18 GHz and 6 to 18 GHz.

Antenna Systems
Grintek Antennas manufactures a range of fully integrated and tested antenna systems by employing the same high quality antennas as the component antenna line. Examples of such antenna systems include:
  • High power jamming arrays for spatial power combining in the 0.8 to 2 GHz, 2 to 4 GHz and 4 to 10 GHz range, with integral phase and power monitors. High power polariser options are also available.
  • Integrated 0.7 to 18 GHz four channel spiral DF assembly including slant 45° omnidirectional stack.
  • Compact low profile slant 45° spinning DF assembly (785mm in diameter, 170mm high) covering 0.7 to 18 GHz in 3 sub bands 0.7 to 3 GHz, 3 to 18 GHz and 8 to 18 GHz.
  • Radome enclosed spinning DF antenna with integrated omni stack covering 1 to 40 GHz.
  • Integrated assemblies of phase matched spiral antennas for interferometric DF.
